Envy – Poem

Every year,

this day comes,

again.

Stores are thrilled,

Consumers,

are not.

Cardboard Sidney Crosby stands,

in the window,

of the store.

A “cheesy” box of chocolates,

rests,

in his hands.

Red as a rose,

pink as a strawberry,

and white,

As the flour on a couples’ face,

who spent the day,

making muffins,

Together.

Sheets of paper,

cut into,

Individual hearts.

Hallmark cards,

are given out,

to a special someone.

Smiles on every couples’

faces,

soft like a sweethearts’ kiss.

Envy pools in your heart,

because your wish,

is to have,

All of this.
